Galvanic mysteries

One could be forgiven for taking Countess Augusta Byron's perpetual air of melancholy as a symptom of her upbringing. After all, when one is raised around some of the most emotive and creative minds of their time, it is surely impossible not to absorb some of that need to create. All artists crave the perfect result, whether it be a musical composition that can reduce men to tears, or a painting so beautiful that not a single soul can step past without pausing to enjoy its beauty. The Augusta's canvas is infinitely more complex. Her magnum opus is herself.

Outlaws

The Outlaws are a rag-tag mix of men and women. Each forging their own path in the world, each fiercely independent. To the Union and Lawmen, they are viewed as desperate and dangerous criminals. The term outlaw is as a slur among the men and women of the Union. In these troubled times, where war and wages thrive, cut-throats, bandits and mercenaries inevitably follow.

Only god forgives

If the Cat House isn't the most popular and most patronised establishment in Red Oak then nobody would dare say it within earshot of Giulianna Star; proprietor and Madam extraordinaire. She built the business up from the silver dollar she found in the bottom of a spittoon during the last days of the Ore War. While business is now booming, she has to keep tight control over the details for fear it will unravel before her eyes and she will have to earn her keep once more as she did back then. Men and women speak indiscreetly when aroused or drunk and the Cat House sees plenty of both.

Wayward eight

Marcus Wayward is the charismatic and cocksure leader of his crew. Marcus treats his Posse like a large dysfunctional family and this has led to more than one falling out within this close-knit team. That said, when the job is at hand they pull together and get it done. From the dependable Hicks Kincade and his wife Zarelda, the technical prodigy Kay Free, the gun-happy Jake Mattia, the manipulative Sierra Icarus, to the protective Sun Totem and the enigmatically alien Flowing River, the Wayward Eight are as varied but reliable a band of Outlaws as you are likely to find on the Frontier.

Enlightened

The architects of the Dystopian Age, the Covenant of the Enlightened wield their formidable intellects to sweep aside those who stand in the way of Science and Progress. These masters of technology covet knowledge above all things and believe that it is only they who can steer humanity on a path to enlightenment.

Hex

The Hex just wants to be left alone. Hunted across the galaxy, the Hex has come to Earth to find a new home for itself. It calls out to those similarly abused and victimised so that it might find companionship and learn from their culture and endeavours.

Union

Tarnished by a recent Civil War and brutalised by the horrific technologies it unleashed to claim victory, the Union is a dark reflection of its former glory. The conquest and subjugation of the former Confederacy and the deeper south, as well as the new opportunities opening in the West stand as grim consolation for the Union’s war-wearied soul.
